Thanksgiving at the Renewal Center

Thanksgiving at the Renewal Center

Families with a Purpose provided and hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at Renewal Centre:

“We loved sharing a holiday and the food that goes along with it with the homeless men and women of the Renewal Center!  We asked them what they thought of the meal, and one typically shy Chinese man blurted out in broken English, “I’m so full!”

Our goal for the meal was accomplished. Several RC bilingual volunteers where in charge of a program to help the men and women better understand the holiday and discuss what they were thankful for this past year, which took place after we had departed.   We were able to provide some of the Jeremy Lin books to assist them in what we are most thankful for. We thank God for this local outreach partnership and the opportunity to love the homeless in Shanghai! To Him be the glory!”

12 Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. 13 But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
