Daniel Fast Day 25
Reading: Daniel 4:1-18
“Now, Belteshazzar, tell me what it means, for none of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret it for me. But you can, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.” (v 18 niv)
The king is dreaming once again. But this time he remembers his dream quite clearly. But when they hear the dream, the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners cannot interpret it. So the king calls for Daniel.
The king has noticed that Daniel is close to God. He is able to understand deep mysteries. The king shared his dream with Daniel (calling him by his Babylonian name, Belteshazzar).
We have dreams for our life, for our career, for our family, for our church. But sometimes those dreams seem impossible. No one understands. Our dreams leave us discouraged or perplexed. Can anyone help us live into our dreams?
In fasting we humble ourselves before God. We know too little. We cannot imagine God’s plan for us. It is too big, too bold. It seems impossible. We need God’s Spirit to open our minds to understand his dream for us, to motivate our hearts to obey.
God, sometimes I stop dreaming. My dreams are too selfish. Your dreams frighten me. They are beyond my imagination. Open my eyes to see and my mind to understand the future you intend for me. Give me a heart in tune with your Spirit, ready to live boldly into your future.
